Das Bühnenstück lost in freaky evolution_ ist nach living in funny eternity_ ein weiterer Teil des fortlaufenden Projekts L.I.F.E., in dem sich die Protagonist*innen von Liquid Loft in einem Hybrid aus Bühnenperformance und Live-Video bewegen. Die präsentierten Figuren, die auch Zwischenwesen, Schimären und Mutanten sind und sich in kontinuierlicher Verwandlung oder gegenseitiger Verschmelzung befinden, stellen etwas zunächst verquer „Äußerliches“ dar (und vor).

Zugleich aber lassen sie tiefer blicken, in ein fiktives „Inneres“, das durch all die textilen Tierfell- und Reptilienmuster gewissermaßen fremdschimmert. In jenem weiten Assoziationsfeld, das sich in lost in freaky evolution_L.I.F.E. öffnet, werden tänzerisch und filmmalerisch allerlei Psycho-Happenings, Identitäts- und Verschleierungsspektakel, Zukunftsvisionen, letztlich also Menschheitsfragen durchgespielt.

Als Odyssee ist dieses Unternehmen angelegt, als Stationendrama entlang der „long and winding road“ der Daseinsfantasie, als Serie abenteuerlicher Balanceakte auf den Drahtseilen der paradoxen Verhältnisse: die Verhüllung als Show und Manifestation, der Existenzschmerz als Science-Fiction-Bacchanal.

Liquid Loft ist eine Performance-Company, die 2005 vom Choreografen Chris Haring gemeinsam mit dem Musiker Andreas Berger, der Tänzerin Stephanie Cumming und dem Dramaturgen Thomas Jelinek gegründet wurde. Inspiriert von Science-Fiction-Literatur und Cyborg-Theorie befassen sich die Arbeiten damit, wie sich unsere Wahrnehmung und unsere Körper durch visuelle Medien und den alltäglichen Gebrauch von Technik verändern. Mit ihren Methoden der Dekonstruktion tänzerischen Bewegungsmaterials und der Verschiebung akustischer Ebenen erschließen Liquid Loft neue choreografische Handlungsfelder und setzen zeitgenössischen Tanz in Verbindung mit anderen zeitgenössischen Kunstformen. Ihre eigenwillige Bild- und Formensprache, die unverkennbaren akustischen Bühnensets und die professionelle tänzerische Umsetzung brachten Liquid Loft internationale Anerkennung und Auszeichnungen wie den Goldenen Löwen für die „Beste Performance“ bei der Biennale di Venezia.

After living in funny eternity_, the stage piece lost in freaky evolution_ is the latest part of the ongoing L.I.F.E. project, in which the protagonists of Liquid Loft move about in a hybrid of stage performance and live video. The featured figures, which are themselves hybrid beings, chimeras and mutants that are in the process of continuous transformation or reciprocal fusion, (re)present something that is, at first glance and in a twisted way, ‘external’.

At the same time, however, they provide a more in-depth look into a fictitious something that is ‘internal’, shimmering unfamiliarly through all the textile animal fur and reptile patterns. In the broad field of associations that opens up in lost in freaky evolution_L.I.F.E., all kinds of psycho-happenings, identity and veiling spectacles, visions of the future, and thus, ultimately, questions of humanity, are played out in dance and video.

This endeavour takes the form of an odyssey, a station drama along the ‘long and winding road’ of the illusion of existence, as a series of adventurous balancing acts on the tightropes of paradoxical conditions: concealment as a show and manifestation, the pain of existence as a science-fiction bacchanal.
