Distortion – Dissonance – Decay

In Cherish Menzos Research zu FRANK wird Monstrosität zu einem Ventil, um dominante und allgemein akzeptierte Narrative umzugestalten und strategisch zu nutzen. Mit Körper, Stimme und Klang wird in diesem Workshop ein gemeinsames Vokabular solcher bekannten und vermeintlich vertrauten Erzählungen erarbeitet und dann mittels Verzerrung und Dissonanz infrage gestellt. Durch Glitching, Scratching und Remixing des „vertrauten“ Materials entsteht Raum für das Unheimliche, das Rätselhafte und das Monströse.

Distortion – Dissonance – Decay

In Cherish Menzo’s research around FRANK, monstrosity becomes a way to reshape and strategically utilise dominant and commonly accepted narratives. Using the body, voice and sound, this workshop will attempt to develop a shared vocabulary of such existing and supposedly familiar narratives and apply distortion and dissonance to challenge them. Glitching, scratching and remixing the ‘familiar’ material creates space for the uncanny, the enigmatic and the monstrous.
